Saltrep shoe factory was established in Olsztyn, in 1989. At the moment the production plant is located in Lipowo, near Biskupiec Reszelski. „Saltrep” is a family company, the owner of the company is Andrzej Sawilski, who is supported by both his two sons and a large group of qualified employees. The idea of initiating clogs production arose by chance. Polish tradition of wearing clogs is not very old. A typical clog is associated with Holland and Scandinavian countries. Sweden is the largest producer of so-called sandals, which have become casual everyday shoes, widely used at home as well as at work.
Clog-type shoe has changed its style, shape and types of uppers, but it has always been the kind of shoe of wooden sole and leather upper.
The costs of clogs production in Sweden increased in 90tees. The higher cost was caused by the necessity of import of raw materials (alder, birch) from other countries to Scandinavia. Swedish companies started searching for partners among others in Poland. That is how our cooperation with Swedish started.
